Introduction
Tractebel Energia develops and operates power plants, being also an active player in the energy trading activity.
Tractebel Energia, headquartered in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina State. And it will host our first site visit in Brazil when we arrive.  
Key business lines
Besides the sale of electricity, the Company renders energy-related services such as installation of co-generation, operation and maintenance of energy production equipment and power quality monitoring.
It develops its businesses around a responsible-growth model to take up the great challenges: responding to energy needs, fighting against climate change and maximizing the use of resources.
Position within Brazilian industry
The installed capacity of Tractebel Energia's generating complex accounts for approximately 6.1% of Brazil's total. And it is Brazil's largest private sector generating company.
Tractebel company offers a comprehensive list of products and services at competitive prices and under conditions tailored to the needs of each Client. Its energy include two types:
·      Conventional Energy: from conventional generation sources, major hydroelectric and thermoelectric power plants.
·      Incentivized Energy: from alternative generation sources such as small hydroelectric power plants, biomass, wind, solar etc.
Their products include: Long Term Energy, Short Term Energy, Energy for Closing off the Monthly Balance, Energy Swap and Submarket Swap. And their services include: Commercialization of Energy Surpluses and Representation of Consumers on the Electric Power Trade Board – CCEE.
Renewable Energy Methods Utilized
The main technology it utilizes is HYDRO & THERMAL & COMPLEMENTARY.
The complex is composed of 22 plants operated by the Company, nine of which are hydroelectric power plants (HPPs), six thermoelectric (TPPs) and seven complementary plants: two biomass, two wind and three Small Hydroelectric Power Plants (SHPs). However, the installed capacity operated by Tractebel Energia is 8,685 MW, as four of these plants are commercially explored through partnership with other investors: Itá HPP, Machadinho HPP, Estreito HPP and Ibitiúva Bioenergética TPP.
